What We Love Right Now September 19, 2012: Quick & Easy Asian Beef

We love Asian inspired meals at our house so when we tried a variation of a Korean Beef recipe we found everyone was pleasantly surprised at the dinner table! This recipe is cheaper than the traditional recipe because it uses ground beef vs steak. It is simple and easy to whip up on a busy weeknight.

Quick & Easy Asian Beef


What You Need

1 lb. ground beef

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup soy sauce (I didn’t even measure, just used enough to cover meat thoroughly)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2-3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon ginger, minced or grated

Crushed red pepper, to taste

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 small bunch green onions, chopped

Fix it Fast

1. In a large skillet heat sesame oil and brown ground beef along with garlic.

2. Drain fat and add brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger, and crushed red pepper. Note: I added sugar and soy sauce first and set a small batch aside for the kids, then added ginger and pepper to rest of beef for the adults.

3. Simmer for a few extra minutes to blend flavors.

4. Top with green onions (don’t skip this–adds lots of flavor!)

Serve over rice and serve with mixed veggies or steamed broccoli.

This meal was packed with great taste and perfect for an easy 15 minute weeknight meal!
