I have a question regarding how much to pay a sitter. I have 3 small children, one being an infant. We are in the process of interviewing some potential babysitters. We do not need someone for all 3 kids all the time, but would like to have someone available to watch all 3 if needed. How much is the going rate for one child these days? How much would you offer a sitter to watch 3 kids? We don't usually leave our children with sitters so this is kind of new to us.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Kate Gosselin has gotten her own TV reality show that will feature her life as a single mom with 8 kids. It will be on TLC and will be called "Kate Plus 8." No Jon.

Just wondering what other Moms are thinking about this. She has been less than likeable to many of us and now she is getting her own show?! Thoughts...

This seems promising! Instead of the usual 40/60 deal you usually get at thrift stores for consigning items, this sounds like up to 70% for all of those kid items the kids have outgrown and cluttering up the closet! I'm going to give it a try!

http://www.kidsconsignit.com is currently seeking consignors for the April 10th and 11th sale that will be held at the St. Cloud Armory (Veterans Dr.) Gather your items, mark your price, drop the items off and you can earn up to 70% on your items. Volunteer at the event and earn a Pre-sale shopping pass.
Visit their website for more information and to register as a consignor and/or volunteer!!

I have 3 and we are always traveling to see family! We did it when our daughter was potty training too. :) We have an SUV and just made sure the back was cleared of strollers (if we didn't need it) and set a blanket (for her to cover up), some wipes and her potty seat in the back. If she needed to go we would pull over and she would go in the back of the truck... usually we were out in the middle of nowhere... my family lives in the mountains, so disposing of the pee wasn't too hard! Oh and we kept some cleaning spray and paper towels too to clean the potty thing with afterwards. OF course we also had a bag back there for the paper towels until we came across a trach can at a gas station or something. She refused to go on any other "big" potty but the one at home so we had to drag along that portable one alot. lol other then potty training, we make sure the kids have plenty of toys or books to play with. We tried to go around nap time so they didn't miss out on that and it was a smoother ride. We also had kids music in the CD player to play if they wanted it. :) Oh and we had snacks like some juice and animal crackers, gold fish or something incase they get hungry before we can stop for food. :)

honestly, I haven't found one that ACTUALLY didn't leak. For my first daughter she would drink from a sippy at first so we had to get the cups with the flip straw but they are so hard to clean. My second daughter did well with them, but again it was tough finding one that didn't leak on the floors or couch. My son is only 8 months old but we got him one with handles on both sides and he's doing great. It said leak free and it was great at first but now I noticed it actually does leak. :( Good luck!

Hi there,

With my son Gavan he likes books so we read to him while going to the toilet. Although number 2 was easier training that going wee-- that took a little longer.

Good luck!

Oh I also bought some imsi vimsi training pants -- little thicker. I think you can still buy them at http://www.cozybabyboutique.com.

My husband and I just did this this past January. We took our 2 kids to see my parents in TX. We live in TN. It was a 14 hour drive. Granted, my oldest was already potty trained and my youngest is still in diapers. We got up early, 4am, and started the trip. Doing it this way allowed the kids to sleep awhile and for us to put some miles behind us before they woke up and started getting fussy. They both actually did really well, and didn't start getting fussy until a couple of hours before we got to my parents house. My suggestion would be to take the child your potty training out with you every time you stop for a potty break or to fill up on gas. Find rest stops, if possible, for potty breaks. Some have little parks to play on while you wait for everyone to go to the bathroom and it's a lot easier to 'stretch your legs' at a rest stop than a gas station where you feel rushed to move out of someone's way. Restaurants work too, though you run the risk of the kids wanting to eat every time you stop. If you're not in a hurry, make your trip a vacation in itself. Find interesting places to stop at or sight-see. You can get good family pictures and probably even a decent place to go to the bathroom and/or refresh yourself!

Just wondering what you do to celebrate on the 4th of July with your families.

Our family goes to a parade our town puts on every year. Then we usually have a cookout with our in-laws.

I would love any easy dessert recipes that you may have! I look forward to hearing about your 4th of July traditions. :)

Hi ladies,

I am very excited to be a part of this network. I have three daughters and a new grandson.

I was a swinging single in my 20's, then became a Christian around age 32 as a single mom and met the most wonderful guy at our church singles group.

After being married for a few years my husband says, "Hey honey, remember that crazy, redhead, single girl you used to talk about when we first met, where did she go?

Hmmm... "What do you mean Honey, I have changed, I am not that loosey, goosy girl that used to party way too much and flirt with every guy in the club." He said, "Why don't you bring her out for me to play with, I will take very good care of her and treat her right!" Well, you can imagine the rest. We have a truly honest and loving relationship that we took to the next level.

Now, I am really giving him a run for his money, sort of speak! lol

I have joined Undercover Wear and Bedroom Magic as a Marketer and he loves the new me.

If anyone would like to talk to me about intimacy issues with your husband, especially with the kids around and finding balance and room for romance, please, let's chat.

Sincerely,

Anyone read this? I am reading it right now and love it! It's not a Diet book, it's about staying thin and healthy without dieting by making smarter choices. I recommend it highly! If anyone else has been following Bethenny's "Rules" for a while, or have always practiced what she writes about, do you feel it works for staying healthy?
