Diet & Weight Loss

Most Moms find it hard to balance healthy eating, working out, worklife, homelife, kids, husband…are you getting the point? Enjoying a well balanced diet is a great way to help yourself stay focused, concentrate and make it through the day whether at work or working at home with the kids. It is very important to eat a good, solid breakfast. What if there is no time? You are running late, the kids are late for school, and the last thing you are worried about is feeding yourself? Try eating a banana, cereal bar, or taking a microwavable oatmeal pack to cook and eat at work. For snacks remember whole grains, fruits and veggie sticks are a great way to satisfy your hunger. If you are into dieting, try not to be extreme. Remember, eating well and calorie counting may be the longer route to weight loss, but it is also a little safer than some of the fad diets pushed by celebrities and the media. Not sure what to cook? A good exercise routine can also help maintain your current weight or help you reach your weight loss goal. Set up a good workout routine. Sharp Mom’s likes the idea of working out three times a week for at least an hour. We know working moms and stay at home moms alike have a hard time finding extra time in the day to workout. If you don’t belong to a gym, try to join one-as long as you think you will really use the membership. Otherwise, running or walking at a local park or in your neighborhood or riding a bike is a great way to get some extra exercise when a treadmill is not on hand. Small leg weights are also great to use during your jogs or walks. Don’t have a set of weights? Lifting a large jar of spaghetti sauce is a great “weight” to use for arm exercises. Be creative and enjoy your workout time away from the hustle and bustle of the kids and your worklife.
