Still have plenty of plastic eggs left to recycle? Try this super cute birds in a nest craft and use up some of those Easter eggs!

You’ll Need:
2-3 Plastic Eggs
Construction Paper
Brown Paint or a Brown Party Plate
Craft Glue
Scissors
Black Permanent Marker
Make It:
1. Paint your paper plate brown. If you have a brown party plate, skip this step.
2. Begin crafting the baby birds. First, fold a small piece of orange construction paper and cut a triangle. This will make the beak.
3. Cut wings out of construction paper. Again, you can go with a triangle shape.
4. Glue beak on top of egg. Use a permanent marker to draw two small eyes on either side of the beak.
5. Glue on wings.
6. Put glue on the bottom of each egg and adhere to plate.
7. Cut brown strips of construction paper to make the nest straw. Glue the strips around the edge of the plate.

Has your child fallen in love with the new Disney Jr. series Doc McStuffins? My kids love this cute new show. What child doesn’t like to pretend play and help their favorite stuffed animals?! My kids enjoy fixing up their stuffed animals just like Doc McStuffins. If you haven’t seen tuned in yet, then be sure to check it out online. You can watch the episodes right from Disney Jr.’s site!
There are also new games and crafts too. Make your own Doc McStuffins door hanger, print off some fun coloring pages, and more! Your child will love Stuffy’s Scramble, a search and find game. Girls will especially enjoy Lambie’s Ballet, a fun game where Lambie comes to life and takes the stage. In addition to all this online fun, your child can also create their own Book of Boo Boo’s for their stuffed animals too–just like Doc!

Torn Paper Rainbow Craft

I don’t know what it is about my childhood elementary art classes, but torn paper projects stick out to me. They were kind of fun and really gave whatever you were trying to create a neat look. I’ve done a few torn paper crafts at home with my own kids and it’s one of their favorite projects! I think they like it because they can do it on their own with little help from me just by using the paper pieces and a glue stick. Here is one of our latest creations for spring, a rainbow. We may add some St. Patrick’s Day things to it too like a pot of gold or clovers! Have fun creating torn paper crafts with your kids!

What We Love Right Now December 8, 2010: Christmas Crafting
December 8, 2010 by admin

Crafts are always fun, but they are definitely more fun for kids, and even adults, when they are tied to a holiday. Christmas is a one of those “big” holidays that really lends itself to some good crafting. Here are a few easy crafts for you to make this holiday season.
1. Pom Pom Ornaments
This craft is ridiculously simple. All you need is a some cardboard (maybe from an old shoe box or moving box). Then, simply create your ornament template (candy cane, wreath, snowman) using the cardboard. Next, glue on the pom poms to cover the cardboard. Attach ribbon as the ornament hook. You can even add other adornments like rhinestones, sequins or glitter.
2. Pine Cone Christmas Tree
You’ll need a small tip paintbrush, sequins and green glitter glue for this craft. Spread the glitter glue onto the cone using the paintbrush and add sequins as “ornaments” before the glue dries. You can even add a construction paper star to the top of the tree as a finishing touch.
3. Reindeer Food
You might leave out cookies and milk for Santa, but what about his trusty reindeer? Sure carrots are good, but this version of “reindeer food” is much more fun! You’ll need raw oatmeal, glitter (red, green, gold or silver), a brown paper bag, and ribbon. Let your child decorate the paper bag for their favorite reindeer. Then place about 4 tablespoons of oatmeal and a teaspoon of glitter in the bag. On Christmas Eve sprinkle the reindeer food in your yard for Santa’s reindeer to eat once they get to your house!

What you’ll need:
cardboard egg carton
scissors
green craft paint
6 small yellow pom-poms
pipe cleaners
2 small green pom-poms
2 stick on eyes
Instructions:
With an adult’s help, remove the lid of the egg carton and cut the bottom in half. Trim away excess. Paint the egg carton green and let it dry completely. Glue small yellow pom-poms to the top of each of the six egg cups. Cut two 2-inch strips from the pipe cleaner. Glue the pipe cleaner pieces to the top of the first egg cup to create the antennae.
